In this section you can learn about the rules for monograph competitions.

The Organizing Committee decided to structure three monograph competitions exclusively for students, based on the syllabus of the working committees.

The thematic areas are as follows:

Competition No. 1 in homage to Prof. Dr. María Josefa Méndez Costa

  • General section | Informed consent for medical procedures.
  • Family law | Property effects of marriage and cohabitation.
  • Successions | Succession vocation, affective relationship and solidarity.
  • Private international law | The new frontiers of freedom of contract.

Contest No. 2 in homage to Prof. Dr. Félix A. Trigo Represas

Best Monograph JNDC 2024

  • The monographs that have won first prize in each of the competitions will compete for the “JNDC Best Monograph Award 2024”.

The prizes will consist of scholarships to pursue a Master's Degree in Civil Law, which may be exchanged for a Diploma or a Program of the Department of Civil Law of the Universidad Austral, at the winner's choice.

Books provided by various legal publishers will also be distributed, and at the closing ceremony of the XXIX National Civil Law Conference, diplomas will be awarded stating the prize awarded and the title of the work.

First prize: 50% scholarship

Second prize: 35% scholarship

Special mention (if any): 25% scholarship

The monographs that have won first prize in each of the competitions will compete for the “JNDC 2024 Best Monograph Award”, which will be decided by the “Grand Jury” and its winner will receive an 80% scholarship.

Winners may make use of the awarded scholarship provided they formalize their enrollment to pursue the chosen postgraduate degree within one year of graduating as a lawyer.

Who can participate in the contests?

According to the Regulations for the Submission of Monographs, students of law programs at Argentine or foreign universities, whether public or private, may participate in the competitions. To this end, they must have the endorsement of a professor or lecturer from the corresponding program at the university where they are studying.

What are the formal guidelines that monographs must follow?

Monographs must comply with the formal guidelines set out in the Regulations for the Submission of Monographs. The Commission

What is the deadline and where should they be submitted?

Monographs will be accepted until August 30, 2024, inclusive. They should be sent to the following email address: jndc@ius.austral.edu.ar

In the “subject” of the email, you must indicate the contest number you wish to participate in; for example, “monograph contest No. 1”.
