Andrew A. Piscione was born in the United States, grew up in Argentina, and now lives in Palo Alto, in the heart of Silicon Valley. From there, this graduate of the Universidad Austral He has just been recognized by Silicon Valley Business Journal as one of the Top Executives, an award reserved for leaders who are shaping the course of technological innovation globally.
Piscione is co-founder and chief strategy officer of Blerify, a startup that emerged as a spin-off from the Inter-American Development Bank and is revolutionizing digital identity infrastructure. Its goal is ambitious and urgent: to enable individuals, businesses, and governments to verify identities securely, privately, and without intermediaries, in a context where artificial intelligence has rendered many traditional systems obsolete.
“Digital identity, as we know it, has been exposed. Passwords, images, and even biometrics are no longer enough to combat the rise of AI-driven fraud,” explains Piscione. In response to this situation, Blerify developed a technology that allows for the issuance and verification of digital credentials—such as mobile driver's licenses or national ID cards—using cryptographic proofs, without the need to share sensitive data.
With just a few lines of code, organizations anywhere in the world can integrate what the company calls a Universal Point of Verification (UPoV) into their platforms, validating identities and attributes without compromising privacy. The solution combines post-quantum cryptography, blockchain-based trust ledgers, and open standards, with the goal of achieving global interoperability.
Before founding Blerify, Piscione led digital transformation processes in Latin America, Europe, and the United States, advised global financial institutions, and invested in fintech and digital infrastructure startups. His background combines an Industrial Engineering degree in the Universidad Austral with an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management, a career path that reflects the intersection of strategic thinking, technology and long-term vision.
“I’ve always been drawn to contrarian thinkers, those who question how systems work and rebuild them from the ground up,” says Piscione, who cites Peter Thiel, Elon Musk, and Nassim Taleb as influences. This perspective, he argues, is key to building technology that enhances human agency and gives people back control over their identity.
Blerify is backed by international funds such as ParaFi Capital, A100x Ventures, Avalanche and Plug and Play Tech Center, and recently participated in the StartX accelerator at Stanford University, consolidating its position within the world's most competitive technology ecosystem.
The recognition from the Silicon Valley Business Journal not only highlights his individual leadership, but also a broader trend: the prominence of professionals trained in Argentina who today occupy key roles in redefining the global digital infrastructure.
