This event was organized by the School of Communications’ and the Engineering School’s Career Development Departments, headed by María Schleimer and Lourdes Perea, respectively.

This time, the event gathered twenty-five leading companies, including Inesta Argentina, Walmart, San Miguel, Mercado Libre, Techint, Quilmes, Pepsico, Pan American Energy, Philip Morris International, KPMG, Basf, artware, GE, Ford, iFlow, L´Oréal, Disney, Axion Energy, Grupo Peñaflor, QUASAR, auren, Adecco, brf, and Newsan.

Throughout the day, participants visited the stands set up by companies to receive résumés, to provide information on their programs for Young Professionals and their internships. Youths were also able to talk to the companies’ Human Resources heads and to attend the four lectures delivered during the morning –namely, “How to Manage a Company’s Internal Communications” (by Vector C); “Agribusiness Challenges” (by San Miguel Global); “Tips for Personal Interviews and CV Writing” (by Adecco), and “Product Development” (by Ford).

Summing up the event, María Schleimer noted, “As this year’s fair took place on a dedicated day, students were prepared and were motivated when they visited the stands, seizing the opportunity to talk to the H.R. people at their disposal. Many companies underscored the interest shown by kids at the stands, as compared to students from other universities.”

She also added, “We appreciate the support from a lot of people who contributed to making this event possible, including the maintenance and cleaning crews, those who helped us disseminate the news and promote students’ engagement, the ones who helped out that day, filming the event and taking pictures, and, of course, everyone who visited the stands, who provided the event with a very good turnout.”

In turn, Lourdes Perea, said, “It should be noted that the stands were manned by the companies’ H.R. people –not by personnel hired for the event, as is usually the case at other fairs. In some cases, like at Inesa’s and Ford’s stands, companies’ H.R. managers spent some time there. As a result, the fair became more attractive for students, as, in a way, their visit at stands serves as a first interview of sorts. This also proves companies’ interest in our students’ profile.”

At this year’s event, Iflow staged a raffle for a tablet among students who had dropped their curriculums at its stand. The tablet was won by an Industrial Engineering student.

“The fair was great, and we had a wonderful time. It showed great effort on your part, and you deserve a round of applause. We would also like to thank you for your excellent service throughout the day,” remarked Inesa Argentina’s representatives. “We managed to make Inesa known to a large number of students and graduates, and we were even able to approach a number of areas at Universidad Austral, hoping to remain in touch for future actions. Once again, thank you, congratulations on this Fair, and count us in for next year,” they concluded.
