The Kinesiology Residency Program at Austral University Hospital is a generalist program with a focus on cardiorespiratory health. Its mission is to train highly qualified professionals through the integration of clinical practice, theoretical training, and research. The department, in conjunction with the residency program, promotes patient-centered care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and professional excellence.
5 rotations.
R2 3 rotations:
-Pirovano Hospital, outpatient clinics.
-Santa Catalina Clinic, neurorehabilitation.
-María Ferrer Hospital, respiratory rehabilitation.
R3 2 rotations:
-Fernández Hospital, Non-Invasive Ventilatory Support Unit.
-Optional rotation (within or outside the country).
Opportunity to train in a leading, high-complexity hospital with a large flow of cardiorespiratory patients.
Interdisciplinary work in conjunction with clinical physicians, cardiologists and therapists, as well as interaction with their respective residencies (both academic and clinical).
The Austral University Hospital provides a human, ethical and comprehensive education, oriented towards responsible and person-centered care.
Active participation in conferences / workshops with presentation of scientific articles prepared by residents in the hospital.
Possibility of taking intra-residency courses, including the Advanced Postgraduate Course in Mechanical Ventilation Skills (provided by the Argentine Association of Kinesiology) and the Critical Ultrasonography in Kinesiology course (POCUS, ASARUC).
The graduate will have received intensive theoretical and practical clinical training with advanced theoretical foundations, evidence-based intervention criteria, and specific competencies in the cardiorespiratory area. Minimum procedures:
-Selection of appropriate ventilatory strategies according to pathology.
-Evaluation and motor rehabilitation of the critically ill patient, as well as swallowing.
-Pulmonary and diaphragmatic ultrasound in the critically ill patient.
-Respiratory sampling in patients under mechanical ventilation.
-Change of tracheostomy cannula.
-Assistance in procedures such as intubation, percutaneous tracheostomy and prone positioning.
A cordial and collaborative relationship exists between the residents and the Kinesiology Service, fostering an excellent work environment. They share daily clinical experiences, as well as academic opportunities and exchange programs outside the institution. This environment strengthens teamwork and communication, and is reflected in the quality of care provided to patients.
