About the Faculty
La Faculty of Biomedical Sciences (FCB), located on the campus of the Universidad Austral Located in Pilar (Buenos Aires), its fundamental objectives are to promote research and the training of healthcare professionals with a strong scientific, technical, and humanistic focus. In its academic activities, the FCB promotes an ethical vision of respect for human life and for all people.
To achieve these objectives, the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences has:
- PhD in Biomedical Sciences
- Medicine School, with its Medicine degree and various postgraduate degrees, eleven of them as Medical Specializations associated with Residencies and three Master's degrees
- School of Nursing, with its Nursing degree program, and its Specializations in Neonatal Nursing and Oncology Nursing, as postgraduate programs
- School of Psychology, with his degree in Psychology
- School of Nutrition, with her Nutrition degree
All programs are accredited by the National Commission for University Evaluation and Accreditation (CONEAU). The Nutrition program, like the rest of the programs in the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, has a Ministerial Resolution issued by the Ministry of Education, which grants official validity to the degrees.
In addition, it has a Research Institute in Translational Medicinea whirlpool bath, Clinical Research Unit, Institutional Evaluation Committee, Department of Bioethics, Department of Biomedical Education, Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Management and Economics
Health (CEGES), with its Specialization in Management and Direction of Health Institutions, also with the corresponding accreditation from CONEAU, a Postgraduate Department, Graduate Departmenta whirlpool bath, Library and a Health Post Located in Derqui, Pilar.
Likewise, the interaction with the Austral University Hospital (HUA) is key and differentiating, where a large number of FCB teachers perform care tasks and students undertake training internships. These two institutions make up the Academic Health Center (CAS), which combines Teaching, Research and Assistance.
What is the profile of our graduate?
At the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, we aim to train competent, highly competitive professionals with a deep sense of humanity.
To achieve these goals we have a
personalized teaching, with an appropriate and close teacher-student relationship. Likewise,
our system of academic advising It makes possible the permanent interaction of students with their professors and with other more advanced students in their own program.
In teaching the following applies:
- An modern methodology based on the realization of activities and the use of multiple strategies.
- Through one
intense activity supervised practice, we ensure that students acquire the skills necessary for professional life. - The fact that they attend the hospitals, from the first year of the degree, makes them aware of the problems of patients, bringing them closer to the reality they will encounter in their professional lives.
The courses have a humanistic axis tending to give Anthropological training,
Theological, Ethics and Bioethics that allow them
understand the patient in a comprehensive and transcendent way.
In the teaching of the corresponding subjects, special emphasis is placed on personal relationships, both within and outside the Faculty, and on practical aspects of the biomedical profession, such as those relating to the teacher-student, doctor/nurse/psychologist/nutritionist-patient and student-patient relationships. An effort is also made to instill in students an Ethics and Morals based on the principles of human and Christian values, within a framework of freedom.
This work is made possible by the selection of a faculty committed to the institutional mission of our University, comprised of professionals with a high academic standing and a solid humanistic background.
Our graduates in Medicine They are characterized by a solid academic background and high local and international competitiveness (with a very high rate of graduates completing residencies), a deep humanistic education, sufficient knowledge of current biomedical research fields, and extensive experience interacting with patients, families, and the community. Many have had the opportunity to teach and research, and to complete internships internationally at institutions of excellence.
Our Nursing graduates
