Objective
The overall objective of this proposal is to provide training, professional development, and continuing education in Cognitive Psychotherapy for mental health professionals working with various types of human suffering. This will enable students to develop a treatment plan with specific focuses and procedures tailored to each case, based on empirical evidence.
Specific objectives
That the student achieves:
– Understand current treatment models and the contemporary debate between different generations of cognitive treatments.
– To know the current therapeutic approaches for each condition.
– To know, diagnose and treat the pathologies most researched by the different authors representing the cognitive models (generalized anxiety disorders, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress, mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, personality disorders).
– To create treatment designs tailored to each situation, integrating the most effective techniques for this purpose.
– Identify the most effective technique based on the problem or psychological disorder presented by the patient.
– Apply appropriate techniques depending on each case.
Medical specialists in psychiatry, graduates in psychology, and students in their final year of psychology studies.
The diploma program will be delivered entirely online, combining synchronous classes via Zoom with asynchronous activities. It consists of six modules, one for each psychological disorder.
The program will be taught two days a week for three months, covering a total of 12 weeks. Each module will last 22 hours, distributed over four days. Synchronous classes will be four hours long each day and will include both theoretical and practical content. In addition, each module will include six hours of asynchronous activities (to be completed on campus) with explanatory material on techniques, illustrative videos, and other resources to supplement the theoretical and practical material.
The diploma course will then consist of a total of 96 synchronous online hours via Zoom and 36 hours of asynchronous supplementary material.
Relevance to the academic unit that proposes it
The Faculty of Biomedical Sciences has a long history of training healthcare professionals, with a scientific approach based on evidence and grounded in fundamental ethical principles. Since 2014, it has offered a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, whose objective is to provide an excellent education grounded in scientific research and in the professional development of its students. In line with these values, the relevance of this Diploma program rests on the solid foundation of a growing commitment to providing advanced training of excellence to professionals motivated to continue their education, both theoretically and practically, to work in the field of Evidence-Based Psychotherapies.
While the undergraduate degree already provides a foundation for graduates to work as qualified mental health professionals, it is essential to emphasize that continuing education is an indispensable requirement in the health field in general, due to its dynamic and constantly evolving nature, driven by the increasing contributions of new research. Within this context, clinical psychology is a constantly evolving field, with new therapeutic approaches and advances in the understanding of mental disorders, requiring continuous enrichment based on established research. Training in competencies focused on the practical application of specific skills in psychotherapeutic clinical practice is a key objective of this proposal.
Duration and hourly load
Synchronous sessions will be held weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays, each lasting 4 hours. In addition, the course includes asynchronous activities on the Moodle virtual campus, requiring a weekly commitment of 3 hours.
Total course hours for the diploma: 132h

FREQUENT QUESTIONS:
How do I know if my degree or program has been accredited by CONEAU? Those programs or courses that have ministerial accreditation will display the resolution or file number and corresponding accreditation year at the top of the page. Programs that do not have accreditation will extend "certificate" to the participant and not the title.
