INFORMATION

The Diploma in Clinical Nutrition aims to provide a comprehensive, evidence-based update on the management of major pathologies from a clinical nutrition perspective. This postgraduate program combines in-depth theoretical study with practical knowledge transfer, integrating innovative tools for clinical decision-making in complex contexts. With a focus on personalized therapeutic strategies and the sustainability of interventions, the diploma seeks to strengthen professionals' advanced skills in interdisciplinary management.

The diploma is intended for graduates in Nutrition, Nutritionists or Nutritionists, Doctors, RD, PhD and students in their final year of the aforementioned careers.

  • To delve deeper into the interpretation and application of nutritional guidelines based on current scientific evidence.
  • Promote critical and reflective thinking in relation to real clinical cases.
  • To provide practical tools for the design of intervention strategies in clinical nutrition.
  • Promote interdisciplinarity and the integration of new technologies in clinical practice.

The program will be taught by a multidisciplinary team of national and international experts with clinical, academic, and research experience in the areas of nutrition and health. Each module will feature leading instructors in their respective fields, ensuring an excellent education.

Introductory Module: Fundamentals of Applied Clinical Nutrition

Purpose: To establish the theoretical and practical foundations of clinical nutrition, emphasizing the importance of scientific evidence and comprehensive patient assessment.

Axes:

Introduction to Evidence-Based Nutrition.

Critical Reading.

Nutritional Care Protocols: creation and adaptation.

Technical language and critical tools for professional practice.

 


 

Module 1: Adiposopathy

Purpose: To address obesity as a metabolic disease from a comprehensive perspective, integrating new guidelines on adiposopathy and its clinical management.

Axes:

Adiposopathy and its impact on systemic health. The role of weight bias in clinical care.

Evidence-based personalized nutritional and pharmacological strategies. Clinical cases: interdisciplinary management.

 


 

Module 2: Cardiovascular Diseases

Purpose: To provide tools for a multifactorial and updated approach to cardiovascular and metabolic diseases from clinical nutrition.

Axes:

Pathophysiology of dyslipidemias and hypertension.

DASH and Mediterranean diets: personalization and effectiveness.

Role of ultra-processed foods in cardiovascular health.

Clinical cases: interventions in at-risk patients.

 


 

Module 3: Diabetes

Purpose: Update knowledge in the comprehensive management of diabetes, linking technology with personalized nutritional therapy.

Axes:

Pathophysiology and comorbidities.

Blood glucose monitoring and emerging technologies.

Approaches based on dietary patterns.

Complex clinical cases.

 


 

Module 4: Chronic Kidney Disease

Purpose: Redefining nutritional strategies for kidney disease in light of emerging evidence, with a focus on sustainability and innovation.

Axes:

Renal pathophysiology and disease progression.

Management of protein requirements.

Phosphorus and potassium balance.

New paradigms in dialysis treatment.

 


 

Bonus Track: Supplementation in Clinical Nutrition

Purpose: Update the use of nutritional supplements in clinical management to improve therapeutic outcomes and quality of life.

Axes:

Scientific basis of supplementation: Indications, safety and effectiveness.

Supplements in metabolic pathologies.

Micronutrients: Iron, vitamin D, zinc, magnesium and their clinical impact.

Innovation: Personalized prebiotics, probiotics and nutraceuticals.

 


 

Module 5: Swallowing Disorders

Purpose: Develop skills for nutritional care in swallowing disorders, prioritizing quality of life and food safety.

Axes:

Pathophysiology of dysphagia.

Dietary adaptations and modified textures.

Clinical cases: decision-making in dysphagia.

 


 

Module 6: Digestive-absorptive Disorders

Purpose: Integrate knowledge about nutrition in digestive-absorptive health into the management of gastrointestinal diseases.

Axes:

Gastroesophageal reflux disease and gastritis.

Celiac disease and non-celiac gluten/wheat sensitivity.

Irritable bowel syndrome

Inflammatory bowel diseases.

Emerging and personalized therapies.

 


 

Module 7: Hepatopancreatic Diseases

Purpose: Advancing the nutritional treatment of liver and pancreatic diseases from pathophysiology to personalization.

Axes:

Metabolic fatty liver disease (MASLD): evidence-based interventions.

Cirrhosis and management of complications.

Acute and chronic pancreatitis: support strategies.

 


 

Module 8: Immune-Mediated Diseases

Purpose: Analyze the impact of nutrition on the immune system with a focus on immune-mediated diseases, exploring the latest evidence on the relationship between microbiota and immunity and innovative dietary strategies for comprehensive patient management.

Themes:

Pathophysiology of Immune-Mediated Diseases.

Microbiota-Immunity Relationship.

Nutrition and Inflammation in Immune-Mediated Diseases.

Nutrition in Patients with HIV.

 


 

Module 9: Nutritional Support and Surgery

Purpose: To train in perioperative nutritional strategies to optimize surgical outcomes.

Axes:

Nutritional prehabilitation in major surgery.

Nutrition in intensive care.

Post-surgical: transition to oral feeding.

 


 

Module 10: Oncological Diseases

Purpose: Innovating in nutritional management in oncology to improve quality of life and clinical outcomes.

Axes:

Malnutrition in cancer: assessment and management.

Specific interventions according to the type of tumor.

Palliative nutrition: support and accompaniment.

 


 

Bonus Track: Precision

Purpose: Integrating scientific and technological advances into nutritional management, exploring the impact of the microbiome, nutrigenetics, nutrigenomics, and artificial intelligence on the personalization of clinical care.

Axes:
Microbiome and its role in nutritional personalization.

Nutrigenetics and Nutrigenomics: towards personalized nutrition.

Artificial intelligence in clinical nutrition.

 

  • Compliance with administrative requirements.
  • 70% approval of modular assessments.
  • Attendance at both integrative synchronous meetings.
  • Approval of the final exam - or its respective recovery - with a score greater than or equal to 6 (six).

Due to the complex economic situation in Argentina, the tuition fees for our programs and degrees are adjusted periodically. This is to preserve the academic quality that underpins our value proposition and to meet the University's commitments and obligations. These increases will be based on indicators reported by the Central Bank of Argentina.

  • Payment Policies: The participant must pay or confirm their payment method and/or fee at least 72 hours prior to the start of the activity through the means mentioned in the FEES section.
    • Duty: Accepted payment methods: VISA, Mastercard and American Express debit and credit cards, Decidir and Mercado Pago.
    • Due to current regulations, the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences cannot receive cash. For this reason, only electronic payment methods will be accepted during activity accreditation.
  • Cancellation policy prior to the start of the course: Cancellations must be made at least 96 hours in advance through a formal channel by sending an email to posgradofcb@austral.edu.ar placing in the subject WITHDRAWAL REQUEST – “Name of Course/Activity” (In the body of the message, you must include your personal information: name and surname, ID number).
  • Cancellation policy during the course (not applicable to short courses): The participant must send an email to posgradofcb@austral.edu.ar with the subject line "Withdrawal Request" – "Course/Activity Name" (include your personal information in the body of the message: first and last name, ID). The withdrawal must be sent between the 1st and 10th of the current month. The corresponding fee will be billed and debited starting on the 11th.

 

  • Refund Policy: If you do not participate in the program and/or activity, and do not process the corresponding withdrawal request in a timely manner, no refund requests will be accepted.

 

  • Tuition refund policy: The registration fee serves as a deposit to reserve a place and is non-refundable once paid. If you request to withdraw, your enrollment status for that activity during the current academic period will be considered.

 

  • Partial refund policy: In the event that the student/participant has made the full payment for the course in advance or has made advance payments through open plans:
  1. If the activity has not started: You will be able to recover 100% of the advance payments at the current value at the time of payment, less 5% for administrative expenses.
  2. If the activity started and progressed to 30% of the total course time: 50% of the advance payments will be refunded at the current value at the time of payment, less 5% for administrative expenses.
  3. If the activity progressed more than 30% of the total course time: Advance payments will not be refunded.

 

  • Replacement policy: If the registered person is unable to participate in the program and with prior notice of at least 96 hours before the date of the event, they may transfer their participation to a third party.
  • Activities that grant a certificate of participation: The minimum required attendance of 70% of the academic program, its activities, and administrative debt must be met to request the corresponding certification.
  • The discounts/promotions offered cannot be combined.
  • The opening of the program or course is subject to the number of students enrolled at the time of its start.
  • Procurement policies do not apply to non-tariff activities.

 

FREQUENT QUESTIONS:

How do I know if my degree or program has been accredited by CONEAU? Those programs or courses that have ministerial accreditation will display the resolution or file number and corresponding accreditation year at the top of the page. Programs that do not have accreditation will extend "certificate" to the participant and not the title.
