Mission

El Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Health Management and Economics (CEGES) It is a center for teaching and research in health services and policies based primarily on the structure of the Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Management and Business of the Universidad AustralWith the collaboration of professors from all academic units of the university, we will do so with commitment to the pursuit of truth, placing special emphasis on generating quality knowledge applicable in our country and directing our work towards serving the individual and developing human and Christian values.

VISION

We aspire to become a leading center in Latin America for the healthcare sector, including management, clinical effectiveness, public policy, and medical informatics, all geared toward achieving equity and social well-being.

 

Main areas of work

  • Macroeconomics and public policies.
    Through interdisciplinary cooperation committed to the common good and the welfare state, it seeks to influence public-state decisions by assuming responsibility for the analysis, formulation, and implementation of public policies and for monitoring the use of state resources. It will focus on research that allows for an understanding of the state and the public sphere at the national, provincial, and municipal levels, as well as the activities of civil and international organizations. The strategic development of society will not be possible without the joint contribution of the public and private sectors.

  • Microeconomics and management
    This area will focus on operational research and professional training of health sector resources in the knowledge and application of management tools that facilitate effective, efficient, and efficient management.

  • Clinical Effectiveness
    Its activity focuses on conducting research and providing professional training to physicians and decision-makers in the health sector so that clinical practice interventions are effective, efficient, and efficient through the application of available scientific evidence.

  • Health informatics
    The purpose of the area is to promote, develop, and apply Medical Informatics in biomedical research and healthcare practice to improve patient care and the performance of health services. It will be dedicated to searching, storing, sharing, and making optimal use of available biomedical information for problem-solving and decision-making; acquiring, processing, and managing knowledge and data in the biomedical sciences; disseminating and exchanging information; and stimulating research, development, and education projects. All of this is combined with a desire to advance international cooperation.

Health, education, and economic development are pillars of a country's growth. Health Economics is an area of ​​social and economic significance that has international recognition. Modern medicine has shifted from being individual and curative to being social and preventative. Therefore, it is essential to train new professionals capable of taking responsibility for the economic consequences of their medical decisions, managing them with cost-effectiveness and quality criteria.
