The concept of a fellowship corresponds to a phase of learning involving clinical practice and research. In the medical field, a fellow is a professional in training who temporarily joins an established specialized group to acquire or refine theoretical and practical knowledge and skills. This involves participating in the group's activities and receiving supervision from expert members. In all cases, the fellowship is linked to the concepts of teaching, professional activity, and mentorship.

The Continuing Education scholarship project arose as an initiative of a team of professionals from the Pediatric Cardiology Service, with recognized experience in the study, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cardiovascular diseases.

The Pediatric Cardiology Service, in line with the values and mission of the Universidad Austral, has created the scholarship for advanced training in Pediatric Cardiology and Congenital Heart Disease to respond to the needs and generate a contribution to the community by training a professional with broad knowledge, in the classics and in the new scientific and technological developments, and integrating them with the human and socio-economic values of our country.
