Chubut is on the path to becoming the first province in Argentina to eliminate the special legal protections enjoyed by officials in the Executive and Legislative branches, as well as union leaders. The provincial legislature approved, with a qualified majority—two-thirds of the body—a constitutional amendment that allows for the reform of two articles of the Constitution that provide for immunity from arrest.
