Why Choose Our Residence

Multidisciplinary approach: This service is offered at a high-complexity center with a high volume of patient care. It emphasizes the comprehensive management of complex pathologies, including the care of extremely premature infants and newborns with associated pathologies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and the management of patients undergoing liver and bone marrow transplantation, cardiac surgery, neurosurgery, and other highly complex pathologies in pediatric therapy and general inpatient care.

Patient care is provided through a multidisciplinary approach across all care areas, with ongoing interaction between pediatrics (staff physicians and residents) and clinical subspecialties, the surgical service, and intensive care. Residents have continuous access to specialist consultations, fostering ongoing learning and decision-making.

Human, ethical and integral formation.

In accordance with the mission of the Austral University Hospital and the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, the residency promotes a humanistic and ethical training, centered on a comprehensive vision of the child and his family, fostering professionalism and commitment to quality care.

Active scientific activity (research, publications, etc.) Clarification: it is not necessary to clarify the names of the works presented, only trends of participation in academic events (e.g., annual participation in such and such congress) and the works/publications of the residency in the last 5 years (in which journal if they are publications)

The residency encourages participation in scientific activities, with the presentation of clinical cases and research papers at conferences.

For example, the participation in the last Argentine Congress of Pediatrics (CONARPE 2025) stands out, with more than 10 papers presented by the residency program.

Other participations in recent years: International Congress of Pediatric Infectology and Vaccines (SADIP 2025), SAP Congress and Conference Weeks 2024, CONARPE 2023, 8th Argentine Congress of Ambulatory Pediatrics (2022).

In addition, each resident develops a final research project of an individual and mandatory nature, which consists of a project, case study, essay or other modalities, which allow evidence of the integration of learning acquired in the training process, it is developed throughout the 4 years of residency, allocating a few months of exclusive research rotation in the last year for the consolidation and closure of this.

Collaborative work environment, if any (please specify interaction with collaborative groups, other institutions, etc.)
The residency takes place in a collaborative work environment, with integration between residents, attending physicians, heads of services, and subspecialists.

Residents collaborate in the participation of inter-residency conferences with the SAP, participate in operations in vulnerable communities in the north of the country (AMTENA Foundation) where they interact with doctors from different centers, and have external rotations that allow linkage with other health centers (San Isidro Maternal and Child Hospital and mobile pediatric unit as part of the Ronald McDonald House program).

The service maintains a link with the Argentine Society of Pediatrics (SAP), facilitating participation in academic activities, congresses and courses.
