Dr. Marcelo Villar is among the best researchers in the field of neuroscience in the country, according to the Ranking Research.com.

Dr. Villar had a productive scientific career until he arrived at his main area of ​​research: the study of the mechanisms underlying chronic pain. He also worked on the design of the Medical School and the founding of the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences at the Universidad Austral where he served as dean for two terms.

He was also rector of the Universidad Austral, president of the Austral Business Park and founder of the Institute of Translational Medicine Research (Conicet-Universidad Austral) where he currently carries out his research work.
