Our campus continues to grow with academic offerings related to engineering and communication. A few weeks ago, a new classroom area, a flex space, and completely remodeled areas were inaugurated to accommodate more students. This building growth is reflected in the opening of new undergraduate programs linked to new disciplines: a Bachelor's degree in Data Science and a Bachelor's degree in Marketing with a focus on Communication and Design. Both will last four years and will begin offering courses in March 2024.
Regarding the Bachelor's Degree in Marketing with a focus on Communication and Design, the University is strongly committed to a completely new educational pathway that includes communication, new technologies, art and design, along with the fundamental notions of Marketing essential for decision-making according to market movements.
The University will prepare specialists in branding, advertising, internal communication, political communication, marketing and social innovation, creative campaigns for commercial and social purposes, public relations, with a human perspective, focused on people.
The graduate will be able to analyze information to manage marketing and communication campaigns with leadership; work on content creation and design experiences for problem-solving; will have a solid general culture to understand and analyze social processes and communicate effectively to different audiences and will be able to develop creativity and communication skills, using digital tools and storytelling.
Regarding career opportunities, graduates will be able to work in individual and organizational ventures, including government agencies, NGOs, and corporations. Thanks to their degree program, they will be able to make evidence-based decisions using the scientific method, guided by principles and values that place people at the center.
The Faculty of Engineering's new program, a Bachelor of Data Science, aims to produce graduates with a solid scientific foundation in computing, statistics, and mathematics, capable of addressing challenges in both the productive and academic sectors in various areas that require data modeling and management.
With this cutting-edge program, our school addresses the growing demand from public and private institutions for individuals with a strong quantitative background, solid programming skills, critical thinking, a scientific attitude, abstract thinking, and logical dexterity.
The graduate profile of the UA's Bachelor's Degree in Data Science is that of a graduate with a solid foundation in mathematics, statistics, and programming, with a focus on data analysis and interpretation.
Graduates of this program will have strong problem-solving skills and will be able to effectively communicate their findings to non-technical audiences. They will be able to work independently and as part of a team, and will be comfortable with a wide variety of data analysis tools and techniques. In a business context, data scientists use their skills to analyze data and make recommendations that can improve organizational results. They can work with data sets of all sizes and use their skills to find trends and patterns. Data scientists will also be able to develop new machine learning algorithms or artificial intelligence models to solve business problems.
