The presidential seat in Lebanon has a new name: Joseph Aoun. After two years without a successor to Michel Aoun, whose term was set to end in October 2022, the Lebanese Parliament voted this Thursday in favor of Joseph Aoun (who is not related to the aforementioned former president) as head of state. This vote was the legislature's 13th attempt to elect a suitable successor, coming weeks after the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah.
