The Continental Women's Tournament, held annually, brings together some of the best female chess players on the continent. Our compatriot and number one ranked player in Argentina, Candela Francisco, won this championship for the second time. She had already won it at sixteen and now wins it again at eighteen. What might have been viewed with some reservations back then, as it could have been a lucky result, can now be stated unequivocally: Candela is the best player in the Americas.
