In the hyper-inflationary year of 2023, the debt securities issued by the Central Bank of Argentina (BCRA) to absorb the excess pesos continued to grow. As of August 15, they totaled 18,9 trillion pesos (18.875.178 million pesos), an astronomical figure equivalent to approximately USD 53.929 million at the official exchange rate, more than twice the current gross foreign currency reserves of the institution headed by Miguel Pesce.
