The CIG held the third session of the Health Systems Dialogue Cycle

El Center for International Strategies of Governments and Organizations (CIG) The third session of the Dialogue Cycle of the Observatory of Argentina's Access to the OECD was held, focusing on the global and regional challenges facing health systems.

 

 

The opening was carried out by Francisco Resnicoff, Senior Fellow of the CIG, who emphasized the importance of creating spaces for analysis and reflection within the framework of Argentina's accession process to the OECDIn particular, he highlighted the importance of discussing health systems, given their direct impact on the well-being of populations and their key role in sustainable development.

The session featured the participation of Nicolás Larraín, OECD health policy expertLarraín, who led the discussion, addressed the main structural and current challenges facing the Latin America and Caribbean region. She analyzed the growing pressures on health systems, such as the sustained increase in spending and the impact of out-of-pocket expenses on the most vulnerable populations. She also emphasized the pandemic's consequences for mental and physical health, the shortage of healthcare personnel, and the persistent gender gaps in access to quality services.

He also emphasized the need to move towards a comprehensive, preventive and patient-centered approachand emphasized the importance of Strengthening primary health care as a strategic axis to improve health outcomes.

During the meeting, an enriching exchange took place among the participants, who discussed the role of the Argentine provinces and their capacity for action and innovation in the territories.

The final reflection was given by José Antonio Ardavín, Head of the Latin America and Caribbean Division of the OECD Global Relations Secretariat, who highlighted the value

of these types of forums to build a common roadmap in the region. Ardavín emphasized the need to foster effective and sustained cooperation to address the future challenges of health systems.
