On Friday 4 in September, the Universidad Austral received the ambassador of the People's Republic of China, wang wei, in a meeting that strengthened institutional and academic ties between Argentina and China.

The visit was promoted by the Institutional Relations Management, headed by Inés Laferrère , with the aim of promoting spaces for meeting, dialogue and connection with representatives from different countries and organizations.

The ambassador arrived accompanied by his wife, Xue Dongxiao , and participated in an open lecture in the Olivo Building Auditorium, where he shared his perspective on contemporary China with the university community. He then met with the Rector and representatives from various academic units, discussing the role of education as a driver of transformation and change, as well as opportunities for cooperation between China and Argentina.

Participants in the meeting included Julián Rodríguez, Guillermo Mazzolini and Pablo Brumovsky , from the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences; Emilio López Gabeiras and Roberto Carnicer , from the Faculty of Engineering; Pablo Mac Clay , from the Center for Agribusiness; Said Chaya , from the School of Government; and Paula Nahirñak , head of the Research Funding Office.

The proposal was complemented by an exhibition of Chinese calligraphy in the central hall, organized thanks to the valuable collaboration of the ICBC Foundation , as an expression of respect and admiration for China's rich cultural heritage. The exhibition will remain on display until the end of September.

The day reaffirmed the international vocation of the Universidad Austral and its commitment to creating spaces for dialogue, exchange and cooperation that contribute to strengthening ties between Argentina and China.
