During the days of July 24, 25 and 26, 2024, more than 30 students from the Universidad Austral They volunteered during their winter break to participate in a community survey in the La Escondida neighborhood of Derqui. This initiative, organized by Vida Universitaria in conjunction with Más Humanidad, is a clear example of our community's commitment to the values ​​of solidarity and service to those most in need.

For three days of intensive work, volunteers mobilized to assess the nutritional status of children and pregnant women in the area. The goal of these operations was to detect cases of malnutrition and children at high social risk who require urgent attention through the CONIN program. On this occasion, 60 children were evaluated, with results that underscore the importance of our work: 40% of the children examined presented with malnutrition, with an average age of 1 year and 7 months. In addition, three pregnant mothers were identified, whom Más Humanidad will support during the first 1,000 days of their babies' lives, ensuring a healthier future for new generations.

While the checks were being carried out, another group of volunteers organized a clothing fair and a children's festival with games, raffles, and artistic activities, which drew more than 100 boys and girls from the neighborhood. The event took place in the same chapel where, every Tuesday and Thursday, our students provide academic support to the neighborhood children.

There is still much to be done, but we are convinced that, with the support of the entire Austral community, we can make a significant difference. We are deeply grateful to all our students who made this operation possible, demonstrating that solidarity and commitment are fundamental parts of our identity as a university.
