Presidential pronouncements are very important: to the extent that they are credible, presidents can accomplish a great deal with their words. The current president, Alberto Fernández, has lost this ability as his administration has progressed. The first indication was the failed attempt to expropriate Vicentin, but this year we have seen it more clearly: his feigned candidacy in early 2023 failed to generate any real coordination within his coalition.
