Dr. Guillermo Mazzolini, head of the Laboratory of Experimental Hepatology and Gene Therapy at the Institute of Translational Medicine Research (Universidad Austral–CONICET), dean of the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences of the Universidad Austral A senior researcher at CONICET, he participated in the program Otro Día Perdido (Canal 13), hosted by Mario Pergolini, where he presented the discovery of a molecule that protects the liver against fulminant hepatitis. He explained the role of the Rac1 protein in inflammation and liver damage, and how its inhibition, through a drug developed in conjunction with INTI, could open new treatment options and reduce mortality associated with this disease.
