FCB took another step in its international projection with the signing of an academic collaboration agreement between the Universidad Austral and the University of South Florida, signed by Dr. Guillermo Mazzolini, Dean of the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences, and Dr. Charles Lockwood, Dean of Morsani College of Medicine, during their visit on April 15 and 16.
The agreement establishes a framework for the joint development of initiatives in strategic areas such as medical education, translational research, clinical simulation and public health, with the aim of strengthening academic exchange, the development of joint programs and networking between both universities.
The agenda included activities at the Faculty, with tours of the facilities—including the Institute of Translational Medicine Research (IIMT) and the Clinical Simulation Center—, meetings with academic teams and exchange spaces aimed at identifying concrete opportunities for collaboration, as well as a visit to the Austral University Hospital.
The delegation also met with students in the final years of their studies, creating a space for dialogue about training, professional development, and current challenges in the health field.
During the sessions, work was done on lines related to interprofessional education, innovation in public health and the articulation between research and clinical practice, including the development of advanced practice nursing, a line aimed at strengthening professional capacities and expanding the impact on health systems.
The visit and the signing of the agreement consolidate the commitment of both institutions to academic excellence and the generation of strategic alliances that enhance their international projection and their contribution to the development of the health system.
