The Clinical Simulation Center of the Faculty of Biomedical Sciences received the international recognition Healthcare Simulation Standards Endorsement™, awarded by INACSL, for the Cornerstone Standards of Prebriefing, Debriefing, Facilitation and Professional Integrity, for an initial period of three years.

The Faculty of Biomedical Sciences (FCB) of the Universidad Austral It was awarded the INACSL (International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning) Endorsement, an international recognition that evaluates the quality of clinical simulation in health education institutions, focusing not on the amount of resources available, but on how international standards are integrated into daily practice.

More than a decade of work

The path to this recognition began with the very creation of the FCB in 1996, when a dedicated space was allocated to the simulation area. Since 2016, the faculty has systematically incorporated international simulation standards through a progressive training and monitoring process involving the entire team of facilitators.

"Receiving the INACSL endorsement is a great recognition, as it demonstrates the quality of the simulation implemented in our faculty in the different programs, both in undergraduate and postgraduate degrees," highlighted Dolores Latugaye , Director of the FCB Clinical Simulation Center.

A behind-closed-doors process

The last two years were key to systematizing and organizing all the work done. The process involved, among other things, a more detailed review of the documentation and better planning of the center's activities.

"The process led us to organize the processes more and to work with greater anticipation and detail in each activity," said Moira , assistant at the FCB Clinical Simulation Center.

For the team, the greatest achievement was not only gaining recognition, but the sustained commitment of each facilitator throughout the entire process.

A safe space to learn

For the Center's authorities, this recognition reaffirms the central role that simulation plays in the training of future health professionals, in a context where learning is no longer conceived solely alongside the real patient.

"This is a place for students: where they can learn safely, where making mistakes is also part of learning, and it's the way to learn to be better professionals every day," added Carolina Astoul , Deputy Director of the FCB Clinical Simulation Center.

The next challenges

Looking ahead, the Center aims to maintain the quality achieved, continue strengthening the training of its facilitators, and advance interprofessional training proposals that prepare students to work as a team for patient safety, as occurs in real professional practice.
