PRODUCTION

The evidence obtained through the ongoing research projects of the School of Education is reflected in the publication of educational indicators and various types of academic production.

The most recent one is shared here with the aim of disseminating the results achieved and contributing to their visibility, seeking to establish another bridge between academia, society and the educational environment in particular, in order to offer qualitative, quantitative or mixed data that help in decision-making.

Indicators

Indicator of learning inequality in Argentina

The Learning Inequality Indicator of the Universidad Austral It reveals the learning gap between the most vulnerable and least vulnerable students. It aims to highlight the difference between the proportion of students who reach the minimum learning level in language (or mathematics) among the most vulnerable students and the proportion who reach that same level among the least vulnerable students. The indicator can be applied at different points in time and is independent of the database used. It can be applied to different locations, such as a province, a country, a school, a district, a municipality, etc.

The indicator was first applied to the 2011-2022 cohort in Argentina, assessing performance in grades 3 and 6, and the final year of secondary school. The results reveal a growing gap between language and mathematics learning: among the least vulnerable students, only half achieve the minimum level of knowledge in mathematics compared to language, and among the most disadvantaged, only 16 out of every 100 who understand language achieve the same level in mathematics.

We invite you to watch the following video, about the masterclass on the indicator and its impact on public discourse; a space designed for you to explore its relevance, application and scope in social and media debate.

Products

Several technology companies have begun implementing artificial intelligence projects with the goal of transforming education. These initiatives aim to strengthen early literacy, especially in vulnerable communities, and improve learning through personalized tools that adapt to each student's pace.

Furthermore, AI enables more efficient educational monitoring, helping teachers identify difficulties and make timely pedagogical decisions. These solutions represent not only a technological advancement but also a step toward a more equitable, inclusive, and student-centered education.
