Cultural diversity and interculturality in increasingly heterogeneous societies

Until 2010, the date was known as "Columbus Day" and commemorated the arrival of Christopher Columbus to America. Currently, the countries of the region refer to it in different ways: in Argentina, Day of Respect for Cultural DiversityIn Bolivia, it is Decolonization Day; in Chile, the Day of the Discovery of the Two Worlds; in Colombia, Mexico, Honduras, and El Salvador, Columbus Day; in Ecuador, the Day of Interculturality and Plurinationality; in Nicaragua and Venezuela, the Day of Indigenous Resistance; in Peru, the Day of Indigenous Peoples and Intercultural Dialogue; in Panama, Columbus Day, Day of the Race, or the Day of the Discovery of America; and in Uruguay, the Day of Cultural Diversity.
