A new edition of the Job Fair took place in the Universidad AustralThis major event, which has been held for over 10 years, aimed to bridge the gap between students and the professional world. On the afternoon of Thursday, June 12, 59 companies and organizations from various sectors set up at the Pilar Campus to meet face-to-face with students from all majors.
More than 1500 students strolled through the central hall of the Olivo Building and visited the booths to learn about internship opportunities, young professional programs, and active job openings. In addition to speaking with recruiters and submitting their resumes, they participated in challenges and interactive experiences designed by the companies to engage with them in a creative and dynamic way.
In addition, 34 alumni of the University, now working in various organizations, returned to campus to discuss their career paths with current students. With great commitment and willingness to engage, they shared their journeys from their university days to their present roles and encouraged students to pursue their professional careers with enthusiasm and confidence. The alumni's participation in the fair aligns with one of the priorities of the Strategic Plan , which recognizes graduates as ambassadors and representatives of Austral University wherever they work, and expresses its intention for their active involvement in strengthening the Austral community.
In addition, seven talks were offered that had specific purposes; on the one hand, to provide concrete tools for job placement and development and, on the other hand, in synergy with the IIMT, to spark interest in research and show them how they can To generate a positive impact on society through science, innovation, and humanitarian aidFollowing these guidelines, Randstad experts shared tips for getting your first job; representatives from the country's law firms provided a first approach to the legal world; researchers from the Institute of Translational Medicine Research (IIMT), a joint CONICET institute – Universidad AustralThey explained what research entails, the tasks of a scientist, and all the facets that science encompasses. There was also a professional development panel for Political Science and International Relations students; a talk on family structures for careers from the Institute of Family Sciences, in which three graduates shared their professional journeys; a one-on-one with Sofía Piñeiro, a UA Nursing graduate, who recounted her experiences in humanitarian aid and what it's like to work with Doctors Without Borders; and a practical workshop on optimizing personal branding on LinkedIn.
María Manson, Director of the University's Department of Graduate and Professional Development, stated: “Each edition of the Fair is an opportunity for our students to take their first steps into the working world, meet recruiters, and hear firsthand the experiences of our graduates. As one of the leading universities in employer reputation, according to the QS ranking, we remain committed to creating these spaces for connection between future professionals and the organizations that are looking for them.”
For their part, the recruiters highlighted the number of young people who visited the Fair and emphasized the curiosity of the Austral students who approached with interest and respect to inquire about professional internship programs and work modalities, among other concerns.
The Business and Organizations Fair is a classic of the Universidad Austral which has been organized by the Directorate of Graduates and Professional Development for 12 years and grows in attendance and participation of students and graduates edition after edition.
