El grupo de Investigación Traslacional en el Cáncer Pediátrico realiza investigaciones fundamentalmente en los tumores embrionarios de niños y adolescentes focalizándose en sus aspectos moleculares, la biología de su diseminación y la inmunología tumoral. El grupo realiza también investigaciones epidemiológicas e investigación clínica con nuevos tratamientos para mejorar las chances de curación de los pacientes pediátricos con cáncer así como actividades en la problemática global de la oncología pediátrica.

 Felipe Núñez. Investigador. Biólogo, doctor en Biología Celular y Molecular, con formación Postdoctoral en la Fundación Instituto Leloir de Buenos Aires y la Universidad de Michigan de EEUU. Se especializa en estudios moleculares y celulares de la biología tumoral con un enfoque traslacional focalizándose en la caracterización molecular y funcional de alteraciones de tumores del sistema nervioso central y otros cánceres pediátricos, y al desarrollo de nuevas estrategias terapéuticas para combatir el cáncer.

Nicolas Alejandro Pinto. Becario post-doctoral. Doctor en Química Biológica, y especializado en estudiar la respuesta inmunológica y su rol en enfermedades inflamatorias y neoplásicas. Durante su doctorado en el IByME se formó en el estudio de la respuesta inmunológica de la piel. Sus proyectos post-doctorales actuales se centran en el estudio de la respuesta inmune luego de tratamiento en el neuroblastoma (en colaboración con la Universidad de Quilmes) y en la histiocitosis.

Gabriela Villanueva. Becaria doctoral. Médica pediatra oncóloga y hematóloga con formación en epidemiologia realizada en la Universidad de Chicago, donde completó una maestría en Epidemiologia y Salud Pública. Su proyecto de tesis incluye el estudio de sobrevivientes de retinoblastoma, calidad de vida y su riesgo de segundas neoplasias. Participa en temas de oncología pediátrica global liderados la organización Resonance Health y en proyectos regionales sobre incidencia y resultados en tumores sólidos pediátricos.

Daiana Ganiewich. Becaria doctoral. Bioingeniera, basa su actividad en el desarrollo de herramientas bioinformáticas de análisis de secuenciación de nueva generación NGS (WGS, WES, RNAseq, microarreglos de metilación) en muestras tumorales y posterior interpretación de resultados. Su doctorado está enfocado en la determinación de características genómicas del retinoblastoma metastásico y su relación con la evolución, agresividad tumoral y resistencia a terapia.

María Mercedes Paladino. Becaria doctoral. Médica pediatra recibida en 2015 de la Universidad Austral, luego hizo su residencia de Pediatría en el Hospital Italiano de Buenos Aires. Su proyecto de tesis incluye el diagnóstico genómico en el cáncer pediátrico y nuevos tratamientos dirigidos.
